Anita Dube is a new favorite artist of mine. I just stumbled onto her this morning. And normally I don’t go into how I find artists, it ruins the mystique I have built, but today, because I’m feeling sassy, I will reveal my process of stumbling onto this fantastic artist.
- First I will admit that I have Larry Gagosian in my Google Alerts.
- I get a link for an article talking about Larry’s girlfriend who was blogging a party!? WHAT? WHO IS LARRY’S GIRLFRIEND!?
- Thank goodness the article links to her blog so I am able to see that actually, I already knew this and am a crazy person for freaking out in my head, but oooh, she posts cool stuff…Continue to lightly internet stalk.
- Get to the end of her first page, realize that Larry is out of my league and I am spoken for, anyway, I see the name of Aaron Young, aka “Guy I am most likely to get arrested for sexually harass at a gallery opening”. So I click the link to see what she has to say about him.
- Wow, his dealer is really pretty. Must google her gallery.
- Discover that Shala spelled it wrong. That’s embarrassing.
- Go to English version of the Paris gallery and oh.my.god.this.is.insane.
- Stumble on to Anita, realize that I’m an idiot and can’t swipe images off of the site so must start compulsively googling Dube’s work.
- Voile! If you don’t* know, now you know.
*didn’t.
